Toolex Alpha
Toolex of Sweden started out making manual presses but eventually became known for its high-speed automatic presses. The Alpha press uses a 16-channel die (compared to the other dies having 12 channels), which enables its fast pressing times. The press was never widely accepted in the United States, with fewer than 10 presses ever being put into production at American pressing plants. New, the press sold for between $60,000 and $70,000.
The Toolex Alpha is a smaller, more efficient record press than the SMT. If the SMT were akin to an easy-to-work-on, accessible American car engine, the Toolex Alpha would be a sleeker, more sophisticated European model. |
